Hackers are directly targeting small businesses with phishing scams
What is the issue?
We have been made aware of a recent spate of targeted phishing campaigns against small businesses, including some of our clients.
These appear to be targeted attacks in which some one is posing as a potential client to convince unsuspecting businesses to click on a link which will take them to a page that downloads malware/viruses to the user’s machine.
The hackers have been contacting businesses both through direct emails and messages sent via contact forms on the businesses website, making an enquiry about the services they provide. Once the business emails back to gather more details, the hacker then sends a link that they say contains plans/details of the work they require.
What to do?
Clients who uses Chip Parade’s Hosted Exchange Service are generally protected as our spam filter has picked up all reported cases thus far. However it is important to remain vigilant and check any emails for suspicious links, addresses or content. Users of our hosted exchange service should forward any suspicious emails to our team on Support@chipparade.co.uk and one of our experienced developers will check the email for you.
We will provide free over the phone training to all of our existing Hosted Exchange clients who request it. The training will include how to identify a threat and what to do once you spot one, as well as proactive and reactive steps to take to protect yourselves from malicious emails. Please call our office on 01274 888 955 to book your session.
Additionally, if you would like an onsite training session at your office, or if you do not have a hosted exchange account with us, but would like training on how to identify and deal with threats, then training is available for a set fee. Please call or email our team for a quote.
